FORGET London’s Leicester Square – All the red carpet glamour of a film premiere is coming to the Ace Centre, Nelson, later this month.
‘West is West’, sequel to the iconic ‘East is East’, will be screened on Saturday, 26 February, at a charity event with a red carpet, ‘paparazzi’ snappers, limousines, live entertainment and more.
The film revisits the dysfunctional Khan family in mid-seventies Manchester and sees youngest son Sajid packed off to the Punjab by his tyrannical father, George, in an attempt to teach the teen about tradition.
However, it’s George who ends up with the biggest lesson to learn, and long-suffering mum Ella has to travel to Pakistan to sort out the mess, past and present.
The film will be screened in the Ace Centre’s modern cinema, which seats up to 200 people.
Tickets cost £10 and the event aims to raise money and awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Shabana Kauser, spokesperson for organiser Synergy360, said:
“The vision is to re-create the glitz and glam of a London premiere in the North. We have the red carpet, limo, paparazzi, drinks on arrival, a make-up artist and photo opportunities.
”It should be a great night out – a chance to see this extremely funny film – and raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts.”
