The second phase refurbishment is well under way for The Sands Venue and all of its 2011 events are now confirmed! The first being the re-opening night on Saturday 23rd April with legendary soul sensation Angelo Starr and his band THE TEAM, which was fronted by the late great Edwin Starr.

This 7 piece band brings back all the great Edwin Starr hits: "War", "My Girl", "Higher & Higher", "Celebration", "Stop her on Sight", “Happy Radio" and many more old and new soul hits! The band has been presented with awards by “Blues and Soul” magazine, whose readership for 2 consecutive years voted them 'UK Live Act Of The Year' and alongside James Brown and Billy Paul have twice been honoured at the prestigious European Diamond Awards for Live Music.
