Fylde Flyers ice hockey team face a tough away trip to North Wales on Sunday evening when they travel to face Flintshire Freeze at Deeside Leisure Centre in English National League Division 2 North - 6.30pm face off.
( Venue: Deeside Leisure Centre, Chester Road West, Queensferry, Flintshire, CH5 1SA.)
The Freeze are second in the league table with 8 wins from their 11 matches to date while the Flyers - who are in their first season and have only been able to play away matches while their rink is made ready for staging home games - have 1 win from 4 games.
Flyers had two home games scheduled for 12th November (v Sheffield Senators) and 19th November (v Flintshire) but have opted to postpone those and aim for the match on 26th November against Lancashire Raptors to stage their first home game.
Flyers team manager Mick Caunce said: "The rail should be fitted sometime next week and then the netting the week after. Following that I want a “dummy” run in-house mid-week game/training before we stage a league match mainly for our off-ice officials! Postponing those games will mean we have 4 home games to try and fit in later in the season."
Flyers have two further away games scheduled before what is hoped to be their big home debut. These are on Sunday 13th November away to Hull Stingrays and Sunday 20th November away to Sheffield Senators.
