Pop into to the Grand from 11am to 4pm and enjoy stalls of Christmas goodies, pick up perfect presents, have a sneaky peek inside Blackpool’s beautiful Victorian theatre and you might even meet Father Christmas! What’s more, Official Town Crier Barry McQueen will be on hand to open the event!
The unique atmosphere of the Grand Theatre’s magnificent auditorium will inspire your Christmas shopping and the varied stalls offer many unusual gift ideas such as photographic prints, jewellery, crafts and ceramics, toiletries and, of course, Christmas cards and decorations. Being hand-made they are just that bit more special than the stores can offer. You may like to browse through fascinating theatre memorabilia, purchase old show posters or try your luck on the Tombola.
There will also be theatre tours available throughout the day so you can explore the hidden corners of Blackpool’s most beautiful theatre – be sure to book as you arrive as they soon fill up. Home-made cakes and mince pies are available from the Friends of the Grand stall at the rear of the Dress Circle and tea and coffee on the walkway. If you fancy something stronger, a glass of Christmas cheer perhaps, Matcham’s Bar will be open throughout the day.
Money raised from subscriptions and charity events has helped fund the restoration of the interior, improved customer comfort and provided stage equipment.
The Friends of the Grand is an annual subscription: Friend £16, Senior Friend £8, Full Time Student Friend £8 and a Friend Plus Membership at £32 where a member can bring an accompanying guest to a show at a Friend of the Grand price. For more information on becoming a Friend call 01253 290190.
