The Big Ballet bursts into Blackpool’s Grand Theatre on Sunday 3rd April with The Size Does Matter Tour. It’s a gorgeously gigantic night out like no other!
The Big Ballet is an ensemble of 16 Corps de Ballet dancers, each weighing no less than 16 stone and united in a common cause - not to lose a single pound.
Formed in 1994 and from Russia’s Ural mountains (a region from where Tchaikovsky himself hails), The Big Ballet has set out deliberately and above all, self-confidently, to challenge accepted social standards in a world where the pursuit of slenderness and beauty seems obsessive. The dancers courageously and imposingly prove that grace, elegance, charisma and nimbleness is not the demesne of the ‘thin’, proudly presenting their voluptuous yet surprisingly sinuous and flexible figures.
These lusciously large ladies enchant their audiences with a collection of classical and modern ballet pieces in an hilarious comedy show full of fun and astonishing choreography, proving that you shouldn’t take life, or yourself, too seriously.
Wonderful music and gorgeous costumes complement the magic of the dancers perfectly and it is sure to amaze and delight. And make everyone realise there is more to life than dieting!
