Musician and vocalist Stephen Pierre has vowed to keep The Galleon's name and spirit alive, in this new-look venue in the former Lucy's Bar on Abingdon Street in Blackpool.
"The Galleon always had something of a cult following," he told the Blackpool Gazette.
"It welcomed ad-hoc performances of various musical variety for no charge and its easy going, low-key nature kept it popular with the showbusiness and cabaret fraternity for many years. It was different from other pubs in Blackpool which is why people reminisce so fondly about it."
Stephen, a keyboard player and jazz singer, has re-founded his former company, Utopia Music Associates Ltd, to steer The Galleon into a new era.
"Obviously, it is impossible to re-launch The Galleon in its old premises, but the location on Abingdon Street is the next best thing," he said.
"The ground floor has been decorated in jazz and blues memorabilia, whilst the first floor is themed with memorabilia from Blackpool's variety theatre heyday."
Musically, he says the new bar will feature "largely jazz and blues, played by real people on real instruments
