Review: The Pepper Pots at the Sands, Blackpool

The Pepper Pots from Spain came to the Sands in Blackpool on Maundy Thursday 2012.

A refreshing group of ten musicians – piano/keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, two saxophones, a trumpet/tambourine and three girl singers.

A surreal experience as Pepper Pots are from Spain – Catalonia to be precise – and they don’t speak much English.  Still they sing original Soul-style songs in fluent English.  In their own words “Old School Soul” and it is too.

Now be clear about his: The Pepper Pots are NOT A TRIBUTE ACT - you will NOT be hearing "Mustang Sally" and "Sweet Soul Music" all evening,  although last night we did have a brief Marvellettes medley featuring, among others "Hey Mr Postman" and "Too Many Fish In The Sea".

Apart from that, it was all wonderful new original material, all expertly written to reflect that authentic soul and motown sound with a bit of ska and rocksteady thrown in as well.
Very professional - great musicians; very energetic dance routines from the three girls - ; lovely harmonies.  We love them and can’t wait to hear/see them again.

The Pepper Pots are back again at The Sands venue in Blackpool on Thursday 12th April - why not go along?
