Turner and his contemporaries: The Hickman Bacon Watercolour Collection at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal, Cumbria LA9 5AL 12th January - 14th April 2012

Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry in Kendal celebrate their fiftieth anniversary this year with an exhibition of watercolours.

Sir Hickman's private collection of watercolours (which fade when exposed to light), collected from the end of the nineteenth century until just prior to the First World War, is the most important private collection in the world.

John Robert Cozens, Thomas Girtin, William Muller, Richard Parkes Bonington, David Cox and J.M.W. Turner are among artists whose work is on display.

The Art Gallery is in Kendal and has a coffee shop.  So why not have a day out in the Lakes?
