International Blues Day at Burnley Mechanics Theatre - 23rd April

The 23rd  BURNLEY INTERNATIONAL BLUES DAY
Featuring:
Bernard Allison
Todd Sharpville
Aynsley Lister
Chantelle McGregor

When you’ve got the son of a blues legend performing, you know something good is going to rub off and Bernard Allison does his late father Luther Allison proud. Bernard a distinctive son of the blues possesses the guitar feel and vocal intonations necessary to carry his music into the next century. He knows the energy level necessary to hold his audiences and combines showmanship and spontaneity to push his performance in innovative directions.

For the first time in over a decade Bernard Allison and his full American band return to the home of British blues to play the Burnley National Blues Festival. Always the consummate showman he takes his rightful place at Burnley alongside many great blues performers that have wowed audiences for over twenty years.

Joining Bernard Allison will be national guitar favorites Todd Sharpville, Aynsley Lister and Chantel McGregor.

Aynsley Lister’s recent crossover into blues-meets-well-written-rock-song territory has been well received by press and public alike confirming his international reputation as one of Britain’s best blues rock guitarists a path that Chantel McGregor is now treading, with sold out signs at Gigs all over the country indicating that on their own these are two mighty English blues performers

Bringing together this fantastic concert will be Todd Sharpville. Described by Mojo UK as "One of our best blues guitarists to date" Todd returns to the blues along with the release of his critically acclaimed new double album "Porchlight" produced by the legendary Duke Robillard. His talent as a songwriter, singer and guitarist borders on genius and his blend of pop sensibilities with strong blues feeling creates a uniqueness that is truly impressive. “A serious bluesman” – NME
