A new senior ice hockey team has been launched at the recently opened Silver Blades rink at Widnes.  It is called Widnes Wild and will be run by team manager Mick Caunce - who ran the Fylde Flyers team for two seasons at Cleveleys - and head coach Mark Gillingham who was also at Fylde.

The first signings for the new club have been announced as:

Calum Ruddick - a former Deeside Dragons player who also played roller hockey for GB.
Bobby Caunce - former Fylde Flyers and Lancashire Raptors forward
Ken Armstrong - a forward from Blackburn Eagles
Stewart Marriott - defenceman from Fylde Flyers.

The team is expected to play in Division 2 North of the National Ice Hockey League next season and open trials are being held from 6th June onwards for prospective players to go and try out for place on the roster.
