The first Same Sex Open Dance Championship to be held in Blackpool was in the Spanish Hall at the Winter Gardens on Saturday, 27th October 2012. Sponsored by the fabulous Supadance company of London, this was a brilliant event. Dance fans were treated to wonderful dancing, gorgeous costumes, lovely music and a delightful atmosphere. The smooth, efficient running of the event was a tribute to the extremely hard work that had obviously gone into the organisation prior to the event and behind the scenes on the day.
With thanks to all the competitors who came from the USA, Germany, The Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Greece, the Czech Republic, Spain and the UK and to Soren and Bradley, the Sugar Dandies from London, whose idea it was to bring this to Blackpool and to Marketing Blackpool.
Supadance had a stall at the event, as did Topline Dance Products and Farale Design House.
We look forward very much to seeing everyone in Blackpool again next year.
While we were there, we had a fascinating chat with Bernd Muller from Munich who had come with his partner Gerhard Hummel to take part in both the Latin and ballroom competitions.
