Afternoon Tea Review:
We arrived at twenty to four on a Monday afternoon and, in stark contrast to our first visit on the previous Saturday morning, the place was empty. We were assured we were in time for tea and though they don’t (yet – but it is on the cards) do afternoon tea as such, they could make it up for us. We had a very generous-sized cheese (locally sourced) sandwich with home-made chutney and salad garnish, followed by huge, home-made scones with butter, clotted cream and home-made strawberry jam. By then we were so full we couldn’t do justice the gorgeous Victoria sponge and cream or carrot cake we had chosen. All this and tea in those delightful, spotty blue teapots. Absolutely fantastic.
We should point out in the Spotty Blue Teapot, as well as daily papers, there is also an internet cafĂ© area and a special area for Mothers with toddlers and babies – lots of toys, a special toilet for tinies and changing area for Mums with babies – as well as an area for reading or just watching the world go by. And they also do breakfast and lunch.
