There were only 2 games in the Laidler Conference at the weekend, both involving teams in the title race,
Solihull Barons maintained their 3 point lead at the top of the table with a 9-2 home win over 6th place Sheffield Senators. The Barons dominated throughout - notching up an incredible 77 shots to the Senators' 22 in a game that was effectively over by the first break with the home side already leading 4-1.
Second place Deeside Dragons kept the pressure on the leaders with a 6-1 win away at local rivals Widnes Wild. The Wild actually outshot their visitors but were unable to convert that pressure into goals. The Dragons now sit a comfortable 7 points ahead of both 3rd place Coventry Blaze and 4th place Nottingham Lions who didn't play this weekend and now both have a game in hand.
