Fylde Sign Lancashire Star!

Former Loughborough Students, Sale Jets, Rochdale & the current Lancashire fly-half Steve Collins has joined Fylde Rugby Union Club. Collins had an outstanding County Championship season for winners Lancashire and scored 22 points at his new club when Lancashire put Cheshire to the sword at the Woodlands in May. The diminutive goal-kicking playmaker is a clever runner, distributor and has a complete all round game.
Head Coach Mark Nelson said: “This is a really big signing for Fylde. Steve was superb playing for Lancashire last season. He's been very loyal to Rochdale who should be warmly congratulated for helping him develop into the fine player he has become. He came through the club's M-J ranks as well as representing Lancashire at junior levels.
“Steve feels that it's time for him to step up into national league rugby. He has the natural ability to blossom at Fylde and will benefit from working with our coaches including Brian Ashton. His running of the game is of a high standard. Despite the last minute injury at Twickenham which will delay his league début for the Club, he'll be a real force in N2N. I'm particularly looking forward to him resuming his county half-back partnership with Craig Aikman and linking up with other Lancashire backs Mike Waywell, Oli Brennand and, potentially, Nick Royle.
