Belly Dancers To Support Charities with Saturday Shimmy!

Groups of bellydancers across the country are set for a simultaneous 3 minute shimmy at 3pm to raise funds for their chosen charity. If you have a group locally who is doing this, please try to support them. Pictured left is Blackpool's own belly dance queen Sahara.

Victor Spinetti & Sandra Dickinson Interview Clips Now Available

We were deeply saddened to hear about the death of actor Victor Spinetti yesterday.

We met him in July 2010 when he was appearing in a comedy at the Blackpool Grand Theatre and had a wonderful hour long chat with him about his career and his philosophy of life.

As our own special tribute to Victor Spinetti, we will be broadcasting our 45 minute interview with him in full in our "Best Kept Secrets" radio show on 103.2 Preston FM on Friday evening 22nd June from 7pm.

Northern Rail 9s Groups Drawn

Reigning Northern Rail 9s champions Blackpool Panthers will face a testing round of group games when they defend their title at Fylde Rugby Club’s Memorial Ground on Saturday July 17.

Pool 1: Dewsbury Rams, Rochdale Hornets, Swinton Lions, Gateshead Thunder.
Pool 2: Featherstone Rovers, Barrow Raiders, Oldham, Sheffield Eagles.
Pool 3: Keighley Cougars, Workington Town, York City Knights, Whitehaven.
Pool 4: Doncaster, Blackpool Panthers, London Skolars.
Pool 5: Halifax, Hunslet Hawks, Leigh Centurions.

Teams in Pools 1, 2 and 3 will each play three matches against their rivals in the same pool. The teams in Pools 4 will play three matches against the teams in Pool 5, who will play matches against each of the teams in Pool 4.

The top four teams in a composite league table based on the results from all five pools will then progress to the semi-final stage. All matches will last nine minutes each way.

The winners of the Northern Rail 9s will go on to represent The Co-operative Championships clubs at the Carnegie Floodlit 9s at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium in August.

The Northern Rail 9s takes place the day before Widnes Vikings and Batley Bulldogs compete in the Northern Rail Cup Final at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool on Sunday July 18

Tickets, priced at £9 (£5 concessions), can be purchased on the day or in advance from the RFL Ticket Office on 0844 8561113. Supporters purchasing tickets for the Northern Rail 9s will be given a promotional code to secure a discount for the Northern Rail Cup Final.

Countdown To Miss Blackpool 2010!


The first heat of Miss Blackpool 2010 takes place at Uncle Tom's Cabin on Thursday 24th June and new entrants are sought for the heats to be held on the 6 subsequent Thursdays. You don't have to live in Blackpool to take part, it doesn't cost anything to enter and you can just join in on the night if you feel like it.

Garrick Moves To Nelson ACE Centre!


The Garrick theatre group has moved venues to the Nelson Ace centre and presented its 2010/11 programme in a fascinating launch evening at the venue on Friday evening.

The respective directors talked through the 5 plays that are going to be produced: "Charley's Aunt", "Skylight", "Funny Money", "An Inspector Calls" and "Habeas Corpus" and there was an open invitation to prospective new members to join in a fun social evening on Tuesday 6th July at the Haggate Rehearsal Rooms from7.30pm.

Financial Book Launch at the Zoo!

Poulton based financial adviser Michael Barr has written a book which he says exposes the myth that financial advisers have some sort of magic insight into how the markets will perform.
