Report:
Fylde Flyers put in a  good solid all round team performance - underpinned by two goal man of the match Wayne Whitby - to beat Bradford Bullldogs 6-4 at the Sub Zero rink in Cleveleys on Saturday night.

They managed to subdue the Bulldogs - in a game that only saw 4 penalty minutes for each side - and comprehensively outshot them 72 to 38 over the 60 minutes.

Captain Whitby (photo right) opened the scoring for the Flyers as early as the 2nd minute with an unassisted goal and Ric Hulme doubled the advantage just a couple of minutes later.  Bradford fired a goal back just before the end of the first period but Wayne Whitby scored after 5 minutes of the second period to restore the two goal lead.   The Bulldogs took advantage  of a holding penalty on Flyers' Chris Butcher to pull one back with a power play goal at the mid point of the game  but an Andy Clark goal just 40 seconds later left the Flyers with a 2 goal lead  heading into the final period.

The visiting Bulldogs were the first to score in the third period but two more Flyers goals - from Clark and Stuart Marriott - secured the two points for the home side.  Another away goal on 59 minutes might have given the visitors hope but that was quickly followed by a 2 minute charging penalty which mean that the Flyers ended the match with a man advantage on the ice and were able to play down the clock for their 3rd win of the season.

The Flyers next match is on Saturday 21st January when they are home to Hull ENL Stingrays at the Sub Zero rink in Cleveleys in a 5pm face off.
